Social Etiquette and Finishing School Retreat

The Social Etiquette International Finishing School training programme provides the same level of training as the finest Swiss Finishing Schools and includes English etiquette and the French savoir-vivre standards that have been taught to our favorite princes and princesses for decades. It is rooted in the French savoir-vivre that extends well beyond basic manners to also include style, image and elegance as well as building a cultivated appreciation for the finest things in life such as fine fashion and art appreciation to floral arranging, learning how to dress appropriately, tie a Hermes scarf or walk with the grace of the finest ballerina.

Etiquette is manners for every occasion. Whether it is knowing the appropriate gift to bring your host or the proper greeting at the proper time or carry yourself with grace or eating with the highest officials at the finest table and being absolutely comfortable with yourself, it is all a part of etiquette.

In our modern multi-cultural world it is more important than ever to know proper manners and to learn how to be culturally savvier. Every culture has unique demands that extend far beyond the need of handshakes and a proper greeting; Today we are all exposed to a more international environment, one where knowing how to respond to the English greeting “How do you do?” is equally as important as the American “How are you?” or Australian “Good day”. (Hint: “How do you do?” and “Good day” are not really a question.) Handshakes, bows, curtseys and cheek kisses or French bisous are all a part of the everyday life in cultures all over the world. Dining with knives and forks differ in North America, the UK and France, chopsticks and eating with your hands are all equally considered normal in various regions and if we want to flex our style to demonstrate respect for other cultures, we need to ensure we understand other cultures and how to fit in or welcome new-comers living abroad.

Eleanor Scharf is a certified Etiquette Trainer from the finest Etiquette and Finishing School in England, Europe and North America. Eleanor is Canadian with extensive experience in Europe and the U.K; her workshops are designed for men and women of all stages and ages.
